In June of 2019, Corpus Christi witnessed a historic event: its first Pride parade. As an ardent supporter of the LGBTQIA community, I was determined to make this inaugural parade a success, ensuring that it would not only be a celebration of diversity and love but also a powerful statement of inclusion and acceptance. One of the pivotal moments in the planning process was securing a major sponsor, a task that required persistence, strategy, and a deep commitment to the cause.
Securing sponsorship for a pioneering event like the first Corpus Christi Pride parade was no easy feat. It required not only identifying potential sponsors but also effectively communicating the importance and impact of the event. I began by researching companies that had a track record of supporting LGBTQIA initiatives. This involved not just large corporations but also local businesses that believed in fostering an inclusive community.
My involvement in the first Corpus Christi Pride parade was just one aspect of my ongoing commitment to the LGBTQIA community. I have always believed in fighting for the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The current political climate, with over 500 pieces of anti-LGBTQIA legislation proposed by Republicans, makes this fight more critical than ever.
These legislative attacks aim to undermine the rights and freedoms of LGBTQIA individuals, threatening to roll back the progress that has been made over the years. As an advocate, I am committed to resisting these efforts through activism, education, and support. I work with local organizations to provide resources and support to those affected by these harmful policies, and I actively engage in advocacy efforts to promote and protect LGBTQIA rights.
In addition to my advocacy work, I continue to support events and initiatives that celebrate and uplift the LGBTQIA community. Whether it’s through organizing community events, participating in rallies, or simply being a visible ally, my commitment to this cause is unwavering.
The success of the first Corpus Christi Pride parade in 2019 was a testament to what can be achieved when we come together to support and uplift each other. Securing a major sponsor was a significant milestone, but it was just the beginning of my ongoing journey to advocate for and support the LGBTQIA community. As we face increasing legislative attacks, our resolve must only grow stronger. I remain dedicated to fighting for a world where everyone, regardless of who they love or how they identify, can live freely and authentically.
Together, we can create a future where love and acceptance triumph over hate and discrimination. The fight continues, and I am proud to stand with the LGBTQIA community every step of the way.
