I was born in McAllen, Texas, along the U.S.-Mexico border, and raised Pentecostal, attending a Christian private school where I learned the importance of faith, family, service, and standing up for what is right. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science while pursuing a pre-law course of study, working three jobs to support myself and pay off my college debt. That experience taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and giving people a fair opportunity to succeed.

After college, I moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, to work at a law firm, where I took on significant responsibilities and supervised eight people, strengthening my leadership and management skills. I also became involved in the PACT Act, legislation intended to help veterans suffering from health consequences related to toxic exposures.

My commitment to public service eventually led me to run for mayor in Texas, deepening my understanding of local government, accountability, and the importance of listening to the people we serve.

In 2020, I moved to Louisiana to be closer to my family after my parents relocated here. I wanted to become involved in my community and contribute to the future of a place I care deeply about.

After unsuccessful attempts to become involved with the Lafayette Democratic Party, I began examining the political landscape in Louisiana’s Third Congressional District and questioned why no one seemed willing to step forward to challenge Congressman Clay Higgins. When I saw what I believed was a lack of effective representation, I decided that if no one else would run, I would. I am not a career politician, and I am not running because my future depends on winning an election. I am running because the decisions made in Washington affect our families, veterans, seniors, workers, children, and communities. Based on my own experiences, I do not endorse the Lafayette Democratic organization or the Democratic Party of Louisiana, and I believe voters deserve independent thinking and accountability beyond party politics.

There are five candidates, and every voter has a choice. I am willing to listen, work, and fight for the people of District 3, regardless of political affiliation. My life will go on whether I win or lose, but the lives of the people in this district will continue to be shaped by who represents them.

That is why I am running. I welcome your questions, concerns, disagreements, and ideas about what needs to change. You can reach me at ( 956) 563-6558or prisformayor @gmail.com
